David Bowie, throughout his incredible career, was not the type to put his name on anything just for some hype. And it looks like Coldplay did not meet his standards. In a new interview, band-members Will Champion and Jonny Buckland revealed that Bowie had turned down an opportunity to collaborate with them after frontman Chris Martin wrote a letter to Bowie saying they had written a song and they had him in mind to contribute some vocals. But in his response, Bowie said, "It’s not a very good song, is it?" Ouch.

They didn't seem to have taken the rejection too hard, instead chalking it up to Bowie’s pursuit of perfection, while calling him 'discerning.' Watch the full interview below.
