A couple of weeks ago, De La Soul posted their Smell the DA.I.S.Y mixtape, which featured beats from the late J. Dilla, up for a free download. Now they have announced a limited vinyl release for that mixtape, which will include all 11 instrumental tracks on the album including an unreleased J. Dilla beat.

They explained on their website that "We decided to release a all instrumental version of Smell The DA.I.S.Y. to give people the experience of a J Dilla beat tape that we were so lucky to receive. These beat tapes were the springboard that generated creation and generated inspiration for us." However, if you think you'll just be able to walk over to your local record store and pick up a copy, it won't be that easy. There will only be 100 copies made, and De La Soul are keeping where exactly the copies are on the down low. Dilla was a heavy crate digger that scoured the earth digging for exclusive vinyl to sample, and if you want this vinyl project you’ll have to dig the same," they said on their website, so get to digging. If you're good at figuring out clues, though, head to their website where they've posted a few. You can stream the mixtape and watch a trailer for the vinyl, including a person finding one of those rare copies in the Merge Records section of a store, below.
