When Philadelphia's Tom Crystal and Ben Louisiana team up, what you get is Work Drugs. I'm not sure if I believe the claim they make on their wordpress page as to being "Philadelphia's premier bar mitzvah and quinceanera party band," but I do believe them when they dub their sound "smooth-fi," mostly because their shit is pretty smooth. Their songs draw equally from dream pop and yacht rock, two pretty darn smooth genres. 'Swimmer Girl' is no exception to this rule.

On another note, Michael McDonald seems to be willing to collaborate with younger artists these days, so hopefully his path will cross Work Drug's at some point and we'll get some sort of heavenly cross-generational yacht rock extravaganza out of it. Of course, if McDonald's not down with all this, there's always Skunk Baxter. He'll take any gig.
