One of Liverpool's greatest exports since The Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen have recently revealed they will be releasing a new album (their 12th) titled Meteorites. Having been rather silent since 2010's tour (during which they played their first two albums Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here in their entirety), Meteorites is the band's first studio album since 2009's The Fountain.

So far they've only unveiled the album's cover (above), but a release date for the new full-length (produced by Killing Joke bassist Youth) is expected sometime this week. "It’s the band’s best work for a very long time," says frontman Ian McCulloch.
