A new site, a new era for The 405. See what we have been doing to see in this happy occasion.

I've mostly spent the last week or so battling with my postman as I'm about 90% sure he's stealing post from me. In between that, sorting out the new site and breathing, I've listened to the forthcoming Fair Ohs record about 2000 times. It's very good.

Between a heavy work schedule and a lot of emailing, I've not had s chance to listen to much new music. So instead I've just worn the grooves thin on Fair Ohs' LP and Lou Reed's Transformer alternatively, with the occasional dose of Mego and Spectrum Spools roster to boot.

This week I’ve mostly been listening to the ‘new’ debut Apples EP from Tangled Hair. It’s been out a few months now but I’ve only just round to listening to it and it’s bloody ace!

I recently picked up a DVD by Japanese oddball Cornelius called 'Five Point One'. I can safely say it blew my mind - both through enjoyment and pure, unadulterated weirdness. As if his music wasn't unusual and progressive enough, the DVD is full of incredible Michel Gondry-esque videos, all running along the motif of 'bizarre'. As to prove this, here is a song about a fly complete with a video with a fly POV.

I spent a (small) part of the weekend making mix CD's and sending them off via snail mail. I never thought the act of making a CD would induce some kind of nostalgia. Fun times making album covers too.

Listening wise have been enjoying the yet to be released Washed Out album, Within and Without. Very summery, very soothing, very lovely.

Every month around the East London area, thanks to First Thursdays, you can enjoy free entry into a ton of art shows and pretty cheap booze! From my experience however, it's all about Second Thursdays. It's not an official event, but seeming as I always find myself having to run between galleries on those nights, I've figured it's far more eventful than the Time Out-endorsed night.

I really missed out last week because if I hadn't have been distracted at a show on Vyner Street by a box full of canvas clothes and gallons of free sangria, I'd be telling you right now about Ying Wei Yip and Liam Wright-Higgins' slaughter of a unicorn, which was taking place down the road at the same time. Ah well, here's a piece by Pil and Galia Kollectiv about trying to eliminate narcissism in pop music instead:
