Erland Cooper hails from the remote Orkney Isle; an archipelago brimming with folk laws and history. It's a place where his offbeat folk feels as natural and fitting as the sound of the waves. His very talented 'carnival' of musicians include Simon Tong (formerly of the the The Verve / Blur / The Good, the Bad & the Queen) and drummer David Nook (worked with Macca and The Firemen). Together they offer some obscure folk music that sounds both very British but also quite refreshing. Like a Pimms with a twist of whiskey.

Their latest single Quiet Love is taken from the forthcoming Erland & The Carnival album Closing Time, released in the UK 25th August 2014, and was premiered on Marc Riley's BBC 6 show last night. It's perfect for a chilled afternoon in the sun.
