Back in 2014 Ex Hex, the trio of Mary Timony, Betsy Wright and Laura Harris, released their debut album Rips, which, erm, ripped - and then they disappeared for a while. They've finally resurfaced this week with the news of an album called It's Real coming out through Merge on March 22nd.

The first track to be shared from the album is 'Cosmic Cave', a stylish rock affair that showcases each of the tripod's exceptional playing. The aerodynamic track winds and buffets its way into a breathless chorus with spaced-out backing vocals adding further dimensions to the sheer joy. While on its surface 'Cosmic Cave' is a simple pop rock song, there's plenty of reward in taking a close listen, as Ex Hex and producer Jonah Takagi worked tirelessly to make this new record a sonic treasure trove, which is certainly on display here. It's a sharp return for Ex Hex, and a tantalising taste of what's to come on It's Real.

Ex Hex's new album It's Real comes out on March 22nd through Merge. They'll also be touring the UK in late May at these dates:

May 24 - Brudenell Social Club, LEEDS
May 25 - Deaf Institute, MANCHESTER
May 27 - The Exchange, BRISTOL
May 28 - Village Underground, LONDON
