Brighton isn't exactly known as a hub for soul music. It's more so associated as an export for indie rock music in the form of Blood Red Shoes or polished 'hip-pop' through the Rizzle-Kicks. Elli Ingram is looking to fill this void though, with her quintessentially British brand of neo-soul music.

First coming to most people's attention with her melodic 'jazz in the night time' version of Kendrick Lamar's 'Poetic Justice', she recently released Sober EP which offers a re-rubbed version of this initial version.

The EP also showcases her smoky soul vocals and though her influence is rooted primarily in soul music, her pop sensibilities are shown on tracks like 'High Love' with lyrical themes that oscillate from classic love tales to Weeknd-style debauchery. She's definitely one worth noting.
