Exposure is a scrapbook of our favourite new bands. Today's exposure features the Nashville based artist, L'Orange.

  • Name: L'Orange
  • Location: Nashville, TN
  • Genre: Noir-infused, jazzy hip-hop
  • For Fans Of: Blu, Oddisee
  • Website: Official Website

The enigmatic mastermind L'Orange is an artist worth immersing yourself into. Take 1920s noir, smooth jazz, hip-hop, and samples - blend and stir. What you'll experience is some of the most unique and gripping music of the past few years. Exposing L'Orange is a funny way to put it, considering there's nearly no information on this individual - leaving you to the art he creates. Take his excellent and well-under-the-radar The Mad Writer, put out last year on Jakarta Records: instrumentals like 'Nostalgia' and 'We Call It Despair' are some of the most delicately exquisite and artistic tunes in recent times.

His upcoming project with rapper Stik Figa - The City Under The City (out October 15 on Mello Music Group) - is no exception, as early singles 'Blind Tiger' and 'Monochrome' will dazzle and pull you under. Don't resist - L'Orange is well worth it.
