Exposure is our scrapbook of our favourite new bands. Today's exposure features mysterious producer and pop connoisseur, NIKE7UP.

  • Genre: Electro-pop
  • For Fans of: Shlohmo, Ryan Hemsworth
  • Website: Facebook

NIKE7UP was recommended to us during a conversation with someone who enjoys using our Discovery service, in a serendipitous turn of events. He's a producer enveloped in a shroud of mystique, harnessing the power of pop in a maniacal way; he gets massive pop hits and hacks them to pieces, eviscerating and tearing the samples so intensely that it's almost unrecognisable. He's obliterated Britney Spears and Justin Bieber's most memorable numbers, haphazardly sticking the pieces back together in a jagged fashion that turns them into juddery floods of serrated hooks and distorted synths. It's viral, burrowing into the deepest recesses of your brain and setting up camp like squatters. You'll be entranced by the stretched, slowed vox and tsunami waves of bass gold. Pop just got a little bit better.

He's pretty elusive – the last time he posted on Twitter or Facebook was back around Valentine's Day - but you can get a mixtape here and there's an LP tentatively (and apparently) scheduled for some point this year, entitled Nevermind.
