With a name that I can only hope is partly inspired by a certain short-statured Chelsea Football Club legend, new London four-piece Zola Blood are anything but diminutive.

Bred out of a windowless Hackney studio late last year, Zola Blood's sound is the perfect combination of electronica and analogue, which leaves you unsure of whether to get up and dance or sit and ruminate on life as it passes by (in case you were wondering - both are equally acceptable).

Suitable for all occasions, their first single 'Grace' set the blogosphere into a frenzy when it was released in July and is to be followed by one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the year with their Meridian EP, which is set to hit the shelves through Pond Life sometime in October. And with their first ever gig happening on the 9th October at London's Shacklewell Arms - the future certainly looks bright for this brooding quartet.

Head over to the band's Facebook for updates and ticket information.
