Fat Cat Records of Brighton, known for representing artists such as Frightened Rabbit, Sigur Rós and We Were Promised Jetpacks, have most recently signed the Niger-based band Tal National.

'West African Guitar Music' is the genre in which Tal National place themselves in. There are most definitely guitars, and plenty of them; the amount of band members is debateable.

Tal National's (very long) biography section on Facebook reveals they have released two albums prior to their singing to Fat Cat, both of which have been successful in their home country.

They plan to release their third album Kaani on Fat Cat Records 10th September 2013, and are also scheduled a tour of the US in September and October.

The signing most definitely evokes an eyebrow to arch skywards but I am intrigued to see if there is to be any Brightonian influence at all on the Niger-based third release.
