You know that happy-sad feeling? Like when it’s warm and sunny outside, but regardless of the potential of a long summer’s day, you just want to hide away until the sheets until after dark? That exact conflicted feeling sits at the heart of New Zealand-based singer/songwriter and bedroom producer Fazerdaze’s new single ‘Lucky Girl’.

Clocking in at just under three minutes long, ‘Lucky Girl’ is a slice of concise guitar-pop driven by rollicking grooves, hazy guitar and Fazerdaze’s breathy vocal delivery, all of which hangs around her repeated refrain “I’m a lucky girl.” Sometimes you gotta tell yourself something over and over again, and sometimes with enough repetition it becomes true.

‘Lucky Girl’ is the latest single from Fazerdaze’s debut album Morningside, due for release later this year via Flying Nun, Groenland and Tugboat. Over the course of late April and May, Fazerdaze and her live band will be playing shows throughout the UK. Check in over at her facebook page for more details.

Morningside is out May 5th through Flying Nun, Groenland and Tugboat.
