Next week The 405 will be reporting from Eurosonic Noorderslag, the celebrated music industry event in the Dutch city of Groningen, where an extensive programme spread across 36 different stages will see hundreds of new European artists showcasing their talents.

It has to be said, the line-up this year is as varied as it is exciting. Recent 405 darling, Beatrice Eli, will be performing her first European showcase gig outside Scandinavia, alongside acts such as Sea Change, Kate Havnevik, Shura and Years & Years, to name but a couple.

The festivities are set to kick off with the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA), given out to what organisers describe as "artists that were successful in breaking borders with their first release". Hosted by Jools Holland, this year's EBBA winners include Belgium's Melanie De Biasio, Denmark's MØ and Sweden's Tove Lo.

The 2015 edition of the festival will shine the spotlight on up-and-coming Icelandic acts and we are particularly looking forward to checking out the quirky DJ Flugvel Og Geimskip, bearded wonder Junius Meyvant and Vök.

Have a listen to this handy playlist of the Icelandic acts taking part in the festival and stay tuned for more coverage from the festival in the coming weeks.

Eurosonic Noorderslag takes place on 14/15/16/17 January 2015 in Groningen, NL.
