Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points has announced his debut album. It's called Elaenia and it'll be out on 6th November via Pluto (UK) and Luaka Bop (US).

He has also shared a stunning video for 11-minute album track 'Silhouettes (I, II & III)', directed by Junior Martínez and Pablo Barquín, and filmed at Rio Tinto (aka the closest thing to the surface of Mars there is).

"We’ve all been friends for a long time, and I was always hanging around their studio in Barcelona," says Shepard, relating the story behind the video. "When he [Barquín] invented a light painting machine, the idea to do a music video came about very quickly. We wanted to juxtapose the light painting in an exotic environment and this lead us to Rio Tinto."

Tomorrow (26th August), Floating Points plays a live version of 'Silhouettes (I, II & III)' at Dimensions Festival in Croatia. It'll be streamed live on Boiler Room, so be sure to head over to boilerroom.tv and catch it at 7:30pm UK time.
