Flying Lotus, aka Steven Ellison, has announced his newest project, joining comedian Hannibal Buress on his new Comedy Central show Why? with Hannibal Buress.

It's yet another notch in the belt of the already impressive and sometimes overwhelming career of the Brainfeeder figurehead, spanning his successful solo careers as Flying Lotus and rapper Captain Murphy, as well as his frequent collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, and 2015 breakout star Kamasi Washington. This isn't Ellison's first venture into television as whole, however. For the past several years, Ellison has been providing music to Adult Swim's promotional advertising.

Why? with Hannibal Buress debuted July 8th to disappointing reviews, despite the meteoric rise of Buress's comedic career. As well as earning the respects of Louis CK for his instantly likable stand-up routine, Buress became a regular secondary character on one of the network's most successful new shows Broad City in addition to his role on Adult's Swims manic The Eric Andre Show. Still, Buress has immense potential due to his own talents, and the addition of Flying Lotus to the set couldn't hurt.

Ellison promises to play new material every week on the show, which airs Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. EST on Comedy Central. Cable subscribers can watch this week's new episode early here.

Flying Lotus was also in the news today for a pair of MTV VMA nominations for his video 'Never Catch Me' featuring the aforementioned Kendrick Lamar. Watch the video below.
