Following the devastating Orlando shooting last summer, Frank Ocean wrote a touching essay on Tumblr about the time his father called a transgender waitress a gay slur. But now, his father is suing him over it.

"I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f*ggot as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty," Frank wrote. But his dad is refuting the claim and is suing for defamation and $14.5 million instead. Read the post here.

Frank has finally responded to his father's complaint and in doing so, stated that his essay "speaks for itself." He stands by everything he wrote, urging that they're "statements of opinion, and thus not the proper subjects of a libel claim." Frank is looking for the court to dismiss the lawsuit and for his father to pay his legal fees.
