The Generationals, the project of Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner, are releasing Reader As Detective, their first LP in five years, later this summer. The band teased the album with the recent release of 'I Turned My Back on the Written Word,' a sensational and summery new single sure to hook itself into listeners' brains.

The track fits snugly in the band's catalogue, deploying warbly, woozy synth samples over-top an effortless sounding melody. Add in some light piano, breezy percussion and a few choice "Whoaaaaa"s and you've got a surefire summer jam.

You can listen to the Generationals' 'I Turned My Back on the Written Word' up above or check out an eclectic live performance of the track from Fresh Fridays down below. You can pre-order Reader As Detective at this link and the band's upcoming tour dates are further down the page.
