Police in Germany have discovered what's said to be one of Europe's largest illegal pressing plants. They seized "significant" numbers of vinyl, CDs, and DVDs, from a multitude of properties in Aschaffenberg and the federal state of Hessen after last week's raid that came after a two-year long investigation.

Believe it or not, there's still a pretty high demand for those seemingly-now-useless shiny discs. Dr. Florian Drücke, boss of the German Federal Music Industry Association, noted that “With a market share of about 70%, there is still a high demand for CDs in Germany – this is evident not only in the legitimate business, but unfortunately also on the illegal market."

The investigation was conducted on behalf of the organization, and Drücke commented further, saying “The equipment found here demonstrates once again that this is not the work of petty criminals, but of professional organisations whose criminal activities inflict massive damage on artists and the recording industry.”
