Every so often, I'll hear a voice that smacks me across the face with how beautiful it is. That's exactly what happened when I first heard the debut (!) single from London-based, Portugal-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Mai Kino, 'Burn'. She worked alongside Luke Smith (Foals, Petite Noir, Depeche Mode) for the song, which brings you into her dream-like, cozy world and embraces you like a soft blanket that's just emerged from the dryer with its quiet, atmospheric production and her beautiful, otherworldly voice. 'Burn' is out on 20 May via the eclectic London label Bad News (Petite Noir, Attaque, Whitey, Fé, D/R/U/G/S, Astro Zu), and you can (and should) stream it below.
