It often feels like we're at saturation point with scrappily yearning singer-songwriters, then someone like Gia Margaret comes along and remind you there's a distinction between saturation and surplus, between a trend and a golden age.

'Smoke' is the latest single off her imminent debut album There's Always A Glimmer, running behind the abstrusely lovely 'Birthday', and expands her repertoire; shades of shoegaze and gentler post rock substantiate her glistening vocal centre, distorted strings befriending and eventually supplanting shy piano. 'Smoke' and 'Birthday' suggest an impeccable songwriting penchant; guess we'll find out well this translates into a complete album form in a few weeks, with There's Always A Glimmer scheduled for July 27th release date via Orindal Records.
