Over the decades that Efrim Manuel Menuck has been active as a musician, he has never been anything less than unsettled. Even when his most widely-known project, Godspeed You! Black Emperor would take extended periods between album releases, his restlessness would manifest itself in other ways, as with Thee Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra or sitting behind the desk for other bands. In amidst all this, he has only released one solo album, 2011's Plays "High Gospel". However, it appears he has been spurred on to new levels of productivity of late, as not only did we get the new Godspeed album "Luciferian Towers" this year, but Menuck has announced he will be releasing his second solo album Pissing Stars in February.

The first track to be taken from Pissing Stars is the seven minute mood piece 'LcOxVx / Shelter In Place', a song as eerie as anything released in his career, and reminiscent of latter-day Scott Walker in its boldness. In a now-traditional mini-essay accompanying the news of the album, Menuck reveals that the album was inspired by "the brief romance of american television presenter MARY HART and MOHAMMED KHASHOGGI, the son of a saudi arms dealer."

He also says of the record's creation "the world continues its eternal collapsing, fires everywhere and everything drained of meaning. this record was made in various states of unease, with a brittle heart and a clear intent. like running towards a cliff with 2 swinging knives, roaring with an idiot grin."

After an introduction like that, what more is there to do but listen to 'LcOxVx / Shelter In Place', below.

Pissing Stars will be released through Constellation on February 2nd. Read Menuck's full, inspiring, statement about the inspiration for Pissing Stars and pre-order it here.
