On their final day as guest art curators, Heinali and Matt Finney present to us, the rock star of visual artists if there's ever to be one, Jackson Pollock. Image and video hosting by TinyPic We decided to save the best for last. His work has influenced us more than any of the others and his work is still as breathtaking today as it was the first time we saw it. What Jackson Pollock did was lose himself in his paintings without ever losing control. It looks like a bunch of random dribbles on canvas, but the more you look and the more you study it, you start to see how meticulous it is. It's pure catharsis and agony. Image and video hosting by TinyPic He's had a huge impact on the way the lyrics come about for us. Putting the first few words down on paper and then seeing where they can take us is a technique that we adapted from his painting. He also guided us in throwing metaphor out the window and cutting right to the heart of the matter. He's a genius and there will never be another one like him. We hope you guys enjoyed our five days of art directing. We're not experts on the subject by any means but these are some of the folks that have inspired us and hopefully they'll inspire you too. Thanks so much to The 405 for letting us have this opportunity! Image and video hosting by TinyPic Our guest curators segment will be back once again next month. Keep your eyes peeled!
