Yes, this is Gwen Stefani's first solo track in eight years. But what does it actually say? Does it have an interesting sound? Or does it ape a nondescript style that has remained popular for the past few years? Is this another reinvention? Do we still like Gwen Stefani?

Well, it's called 'Baby Don't Lie' and it arrives as the first piece of music from the singer since her 2006 album, The Sweet Escape, and apparently she is also working on a follow-up. The bridge is quite cool I guess with it's "What you hiding boy?" and "Am I getting warm?" with the increasingly frenzied layered vocals and all, plus her octave-skipping yelps at the end of some her lines remind me that this is still Gwen Stefani, thankfully.

Watch this space for uh more news of the unnamed album. In the meantime, make your own mind up.
