We recently posted the excellent new Half Waif single 'Keep It Out', along with the news of her new album Lavender, arriving April 27th.

The follow up single is 'Torches'. Where 'Keep It Out' was a song of strength, 'Torches' is one of fear and fraught worry at the surrounding world - at least to start. Delicately Nandi Rose Plunckett opens the song by looking out at a land of destruction, and as that terror reaches her viewpoint she finds inner resolve to keep fighting, even though everything seems hopeless.

Plunckett says: "'Torches' opens with the terror of a world that burns, tempered by the cool reminder of an undying coast somewhere nearby. It then imagines what happens when that lit darkness reaches you before you can reach the water's edge - when you come to feed off it, called by the scream of the open, endless road. It's probably not surprising that I wrote this song in the days immediately after Trump's election, driving through Texas on a stretch of highway.”
