Here’s some good news for all you Potter fans out there: a spin-off movie series will bring the fantastic world of Harry Potter back to the big screen, and the script is being written by J.K. Rowling herself: "I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about," Rowling says in a statement, "and this is it.".

Set in New York instead of foggy London, the new films will be inspired by Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the adventures of the book's fictitious author, Newt Scamander: "Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," explains Rowling.

The whole idea began when Warner Bros talked to J.K. Rowling about the possibility of turning Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them into a film - now it will also be developed across the Studio's video game, consumer products and digital initiatives businesses - the whole Potter shebang.
