Having peppered the last couple of years with great dream-pop singles, Hatchie is on the verge of releasing her debut album Keepsake, which drops on June 21st through Heavenly. Today she's shared another glimpse from the record in the form of 'Obsessed', a delirious ode to friendship. She explains:

"I wrote it when reflecting on my teenage tendency to cling to a new best friend for support, until I eventually convinced myself I wasn't worthy of their friendship. It's ultimately a celebration of meeting somebody who you look up to who helps you grow into a more adventurous person.”

It's unusual to heat a song about obsession that's actually of a healthy kind, but in 'Obsessed' the glee at the devotion comes ringing out. Hatchie's usual dreampop, emphasis on the pop, is the ideal vessel for a song that's overflowing with happiness and love. The song pinwheels on a dizzying chorus, where she admits to herself and her friend that she gets a little bit obsessed with them, but as she then repeats in the earworm hook, "it's OK," because it is just a ton of heartfelt affection after all.
