Hayden Thorpe released his first solo album Diviner just a few months ago, but has already released a new track that was not included on the record called 'Full Beam'. Just from the cover art alone it is obviously connected to the former Wild Beasts man's album, but in listening to 'Full Beam' you can understand why it was omitted, as it is not as piano-centric as the rest of the record. Thorpe expands on this, saying:

"Full Beam was the final track to emerge from the Diviner sessions, featuring drums from Stella Mozgowa, backing vocals from Josephine Stephenson and an outrageous saxophone performance from Matana Roberts. It was designed to be a moment of ecstatic release from the brooding songs that preceded it and as serves a calling card for what is to come.”

'Full Beam' immediately has more loftiness than most of Diviner thanks to the impeccable percussion, and it only continues to billow into greater life as it progresses. Thorpe's voice presides magisterially over the track, which starts to give life to luminous synth tones, drum machines and - as he says above - an absolutely wonderful saxophone solo. It's one that's sure to be a highlight when he heads out on the road in the next couple of months, playing with a band for the first time.
