This is hip-hop, but with a difference. The difference is that it's an odyssey of sounds, a journey, a conceptual journey from retro crackling boom bap of the first half of this track, 'Bare Knuckle Boxing' – featuring flame-charged rap from Haze – to a psychedelic state of affairs in the second part, 'Elevated'; this is where Boston producer EvillDewer really shines, keeping that raw-flavoured beat but bringing the music up a notch on the unreality scale, taking it soaring on a flight of fancy with mind-bending twangs of exotica and ending with sampling beset by alien-abduction noises. An intriguing two-parter, 'Bare Knuckle Boxing / Elevated' is a great feat of retro rap mixed with intoxicated '60s jam sessions.
