Brighton's AK Patterson aren't an easy band to pin down. Not sounding entirely unlike (a more soulful) PJ Harvey, much of the band's power is certainly owed to singer Alex Patterson's commanding presence, with some even dubbing her a "woman possessed".

The 405 is proud to premiere the band's latest salvo, the seething, desperate balladry of 'A Woman's Word', ahead of tomorrow's release of Shadows, their debut EP.

Produced by Charlie Andrew, perhaps best known for his work with Alt-J, the band is also setting out on a tour supporting the bigger band soon.
