Yale hosted a lecture from none other than Solange over the weekend. There, the talented Grammy-nominated artist took part in a symposium titled Blackstar Rising & The Purple Reign: Celebrating the Legacies of David Bowie and Prince. In total, it was a four-day conference dealing with the topics of gender, politics and spirituality, with other artists like Questlove and Kimbra taking part.

But now, you can listen to Solange's portion of the project, where she discusses her art and Prince's in the intriguing keynote, below.

"I am resisting, I am objecting, I am refusing. And in its most simple way, protest is a statement of objection. There were so many things that I fought against through this album, in hopes really for me to find healing and solace," she says.
