Online direct-to-fan music platform PledgeMusic and charity Help Musicians UK have teamed up for the Emerging Artists Fund initiative. What does this mean? They're offering 24 new bands or artists the chance to each receive a grant of between £2,000 and £5,000 from Help Musicians UK through a campaign page that applicants must set up on PledgeMusic. You can do that here.

"After the unmitigated success of round one of the Emerging Artists Fund initiative, we are anticipating more applicants and an even bigger response the second time around," said Paul Barton, MD of PledgeMusic, "It's of prime importance to us as a company that PledgeMusic, with the help of our partners at Help Musicians UK, continue to build solid foundations to support emerging artists."

To apply, artists/bands must have no existing backing or funding from publishers or record labels, be "at, or approaching, a career tipping point," have live experience and be dedicated to continuing a career in music for the long term.

The current round of funding started on 1st August and closes on 31st August, and has already had over 50 applications. Winners will be decided upon by "a panel of high profile tastemakers and music industry experts" (according to MusicWeek) on 17th September. If you miss it this time around, you can always make the next round of funding, from 2nd–30th November.
