It look as though HMV are taking a "bigger than Jesus" stance regarding the company's position.

Paul McGowan, chief executive of Hilco, claims HMV will be the leading retailer of CDs and DVDs in the not too distant future.

"It's only a matter of time before we overtake Amazon," he expressed in an interview with the Mail on Sunday. "HMV is re-engaging with music shoppers and getting them back into shops. This is about being an authority in music, not selling music as a commodity."

He also revealed that HMV's sales had increased around 14% since July (with CD and vinyl sales increasing 21%) - which is a lot higher than the 3% everyone expected. Maybe he's not crazy?
