After the drama that ensued from HMV's liquidation and subsequent buy-out, it's taken a little time for the retailer to get back on its feet.

Strong rumours that the music shop chain was to return to Oxford Street have now been confirmed by business publication City AM after hearing word from HMV parent company Hilco.

The shop will be located at the site of the original HMV flagship store, currently a Footlocker. The brand hopes to further put its stamp back on the unit by re-instating the giant His Master's Voice signage, last seen in the mid 1950s.

The date for re-opening has not yet been disclosed.
