Why Make Sense? Yes. This is the sentiment and indeed the title of Hot Chip freshly announced sixth album, following 2012's In Our Heads. It will be arriving on 18th May.

There'll be a Special (limited) Edition version of Why Make Sense?, which will include a bonus in the form of the Separate EP - four tracks recorded during the album sessions. Track lists for both can be found below.

The lead track, and first track, from the album is 'Huarache Lights', a lovely house-flavoured track featuring a gloriously organic, skiffly, accented beat, partnered with rich pulses of synth bass. Alexis Taylor's distinctive voice runs throughout, and an occasional sample – "I got something for your mind your body and your soul" (lifted from 1992 house track 'The Realm' by C'hantal) – gives it a classic feel. A very promising introduction to this collection of new material.

The video for the track (below) features a light installation by artist Robert Bell and was directed by Andy Knowles. Fun fact: huarache is a type of Mexican food, named after sandals originally worn by Mexican Indians.

Pre-order the album from Domino Records, or alternatively from iTunes. In addition the band have announced a series of international shows for May, June and August – check 'em out at the end of this post.
