If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, you might be experiencing some frostiness right now (er, that is, in temperature terms). Here, in Ohio, it’s a very pleasant-feeling 14 degrees (Celsius). The forecast has that going down to -7 next Tuesday (that’s the high). So, I’m not putting my coat in storage anytime soon.

But this warmth makes listening to the sunny new single by electropop project House of Morning Star all the better. Led by Moscow indie-rocker Dobin, House of Morning Star binds together talents of different musical and geographical backgrounds. Americans Stu Shillito (on drums) and Stanley Kinski (on bass and programming), lend plenty of rhythmic flair, with Shillito’s hardcore punk translating well into this still-energetic but less-aggressive style. London’s Nigel Karlsson adds lovely guitar and more percussion, while veteran of the Eurodance and industrial scenes in the 90s DJ Snakebite shows off his talents on the sequencer, synths, and sampler. It’s even a family affair with Dobin’s brother, Todd getting in the mix as a backup vocalist. It all adds up to ‘Man Without Agenda Part 1,’ an endlessly infectious number that could be an earworm a capella or as an instrumental. We’re grateful it came together so well and can’t wait for Part 2, as well as House of Morning Star’s debut album.
