2017 has sucked in so many ways, but it also brought us a couple of milestone moments which will (hopefully) allow us to evolve as a society. One of those had to do with important steps being taken to destroy a patriarchal system that treats women as objects or at the very least as inferior individuals who only exist to serve men -- oh wait, that's basically the same thing!

From denouncing sexual harassment on various levels (and consequently dismantling power and fear-based institutions which had been untouched for years, decades even), to speaking up about a glass-ceiling professional world, we did indeed make a difference. We can only hope to become more and more visible in the coming years.

So there's no denying Christmas festivities should also bear a symbolic double-X chromosome this year: Grey London thinks so too because it has teamed up with Goldstein Music to bring us the gift of all gifts -- a feminist album of revised Christmas hymns appropriately titled HYRRS. There's 'Oh! Sexism' ('Oh! Christmas Tree'), 'Stereotypes' ('Silent Night'), and my personal favourite 'Kick The Balls' ('Deck the Halls').

"From Weinstein and Westminster to salaries and sexism, 2017 has shown how appalling it can be for women," explains Grey’s co-chief creative officer Vicki Maguire. "That’s why we now want to make a statement about kicking everyday inequality in the baubles this Christmas while raising money for an amazing cause that helps women.”

But before you start asking where you can listen/download/buy this gem (all info here), here's the best part: all proceeds go to Refuge, a charity providing support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Now, that is what I call Christmas spirit! Check out some of the tunes below.
