John Talabot, the experimental electronic musician, has been creating waves on the circuit for quite a while now. Growing up in Barcelona, his musical influences are extremely diverse, taking inspiration cultural music from all parts of the globe. These sounds have definitely added to his musical pallet, for instance, his remix of The xx’s shelter sounds like it’s straight from The Congo.

Talabot, originally began releasing tracks from his own label Hivern and from German record label Permanent Vacation, but in 2011 Talabot stepped up to the big-time, releasing a four-track E.P. named Families on the formidable Young Turks.

In January 2012 Talabot released his debut LP ƒin on Permanent Vacation. Pitchfork placed their well-recognized 'best new music' badge onto its cover, and with critics already calling for it to receive album of the year, ƒin has definitely surpassed its expectations.

Here at The 405, we are championing John Talabot to have an extraordinary year. As previously mentioned his album is out now and he is sure to be buzzing around the festival circuit in the summer, playing the pinnacle of festivals for electronic musicians Sonar, in his hometown of Barcelona in June. Destiny will prevail.
