We've all been there. You're outside a fancy joint in the cold whilst some hotshot walks past you straight in to the place you've been waiting to get into for the last thirty minutes of your life. In your head you're the person at the front. In your head you've waltzed past the other shaking bodies in the queue to be faced with a burly bouncer that will no doubt question your status, only to be hit back with the killer punch of "we don't know how to put this but, we're kind of a big deal". The bouncer will obviously feel embarrassed and let you in immediately. He'll probably buy you a drink too. No, I'm not from 80's America, I've never used the word 'joint' before and I try to avoid queuing/bouncers at the best of times and If Big Deals music is anything to go by, they probably feel the same way too. So I'm going to assume their Myspace introduction is just a clever rouse to fool the hipsters that will no doubt see the 'London girl/boy duo' as a green light for hype. Big Deal is Kacey Underwood and Alice Costelloe and currently residing on their Myspace are five songs, each more beautiful than the last. Folky, but not folk at all, those five tracks are probably the most genuine collection of songs I've heard in quite some time. In fact, 'Lunch Money' is one of the best songs I've heard this year. It's that strong. Big Deal are set to release their debut single 'Homework / 13' on November 15th. So do the right thing and buy it.
