By all accounts 2010 has already been a pretty exciting year for Halifax-based quartet Wot Gorilla?. A year which has seen the band sign to Idle Hands Club, as well as make appearances at both Brainwash Festival and the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds. On top of all this the band have just released their new 4-track EP New Arrival, produced early this year with James Kenosha (Grammatics, Pulled Apart By Horses, Lone Wolf & Dinosaur Pile-up). The band’s debut release through Idle Hands Club, New Arrival, is set for release next month, December 6th and is available to pre-order here Self-described as math rock intertwined with soft breakdowns, something which is easily recognisable within minutes of the EP’s opening track ‘Fear of Flying’, Wot Gorilla’s? sound is hard to pin down. It’s somewhere between early 00’s UK emo, mixed with a little bit of Minus The Bear alongside the vocal brilliance of Finch.
