“Choose your heroes” sing the Oxford four-piece Gunning For Tamar on the brooding ‘The Organs, The Senses, The Muscles, The Memories’. Although it may be too early in their career at the moment, it would not be a surprise if people started looking up to GFT very, very soon. Their sound is one of pressing intensity yet it still remains immediate. There is a darkness in evidence complemented by the solemn lyrics and post-rock song structures. The band are consistently busy. 2010 alone saw the release of a split EP with fellow OX4 residents Phantom Theory, appearances at a couple of festivals and a string of impressive support slots - they’ve shared a stage with the likes of Hold Your Horse Is, Maybeshewill and Tellison already. In 2011, we should be lucky enough to hear the results of some recording sessions with producer Tom Woodhead, he of Forward Russia fame.
