Rumours swirled around last year that Mick Jagger would be tied to a soon-to-be released biopic of the late great James Brown, but the effort seemed to be endlessly ongoing.

The production has apparently finally been given the green light, and will be starring rising star Chadwick Boseman as the soul legend. Boseman, for those unfamiliar, played Jackie Robinson in his recent biopic 42. The script will be written by British playwright Jez Butterworth, whose previous efforts include stage plays Mojo and Jerusalem. Director Tate Taylor (The Help) is also tagged onto the project.

The project is also expected to have appearances from actors performing as the aforementioned Jagger, his bandmate Keith Richards, and Little Richard. Exact details of when filming will be begin are not yet available.
