James Franco of being James Franco in a bunch of films fame has announced that his band, Daddy, are set to release a Smiths-inspired album/film called Let Me Get What I Want next year.

The LP will be based on a series of poems lifted from his latest book Directing Herbert White: Poems, in which there are two sections titled "Poems Inspired by Smiths' Songs". Franco and his former art school classmate Tim O'Keefe (the other half of Daddy) have turned these poems into songs (you can listen and watch the video for 'This Charming Man' below).

But there's more: somehow they managed to get The Smiths' former bassist Andy Rourke to play on every track, which gives the project a tiny amount of credibility. Each song from the album will be accompanied by its own painting (by Franco, of course) and video that, when watched in sequence, tell a single story.

We're certainly curious about this one...
