When I spoke to Jelani Blackman a few months ago, he revealed to me - with some excitement - his plans for his forthcoming project, entitled Jelanji. "It was quite a quick process," he said at the time. "I made it with a group of people that I know well and it's really communal."

After teasing the project back in April, Jelanji is now streaming in full and includes contributions from the likes of frequent collaborators FRED and Count Counsellor, as well as Jung Munk and Yami. Conceptually, the mixtape is a collection of Jungle samples, chopped, screwed, reimagined and transformed into somewhat ethereal, somewhat rhythmic and somewhat melodic beats backed by Blackman's signature deep, booming voice. It makes for one of the years more creative and interesting releases and quite frankly deserves all your attention. Stream the collection now via Quality Time Recordings.
