If you've caught Icelandic musician Jófríður Ákadóttir aka JFDR live then you know the power and presence she holds when bringing her music into existence. Her voice is a versatile beam of music which seems to be at one with nature and can just as easily soar high in the atmosphere or dig down into the rich Earth. It therefore makes perfect sense that she would want to re-work some of her songs to add strings that would enhance the dynamic power of her voice; and as such she recently released the White Sun EP, which featured these cinematic new versions of some of her old favourites, and will be heading out on tour with a string quartet backing her up.

If you haven't yet had a chance to explore the White Sun EP, then here is a perfect place to start as we have today the video for the string-laden title track 'White Sun (String Version)'. The greyscale video follows JFDR as she moves through the Icelandic wilderness, buffeted by wind, wrapped up from the cold - but looking unquantifiably happy and at home in her native land. Coupled with the swelling and laudatory sounds of 'White Sun (String Version)' it's a captivating clip. Check it out below - and make sure to take a look at JFDR's upcoming tour dates with string quartet beneath.
