Currently, or at least recently, Joanna Newsom has been a part of upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson-directed film Inherent Vice, in which she appears both physically and as its narrator. You know the one, it's based on the Thomas Pynchon novel of the same name, soundtracked by Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead's guitarist?

In an interview with Dazed Digital she shared her thoughts on perhaps wanting to do a little bit of film soundtracking herself.

"This movie was so incredibly rewarding and fun for me, and it did maybe defer some of my music work for a while, but it was totally worth it. I think I would do a film soundtrack if I was very inspired by the idea and the collaboration, knowing that it would maybe take away a little bit of my time spent on other music, touring and so forth. But I would really love to some day."

Then, speaking of current events in relation to the movie, she added: "I mean, right now, what's happening in Ferguson and in New York is terrible; [you have these] terrible cases of cops murdering people and getting away with it. The words 'civil rights violation' come up a lot in this film, and I think that that applies more today than it has for decades."

It also appears that Newsom is double busy, as she also said that she's been hard at work on a new album, or at least new material. New music for the first time in 5 years. This would be a follow-up to Have One on Me, released all the way back in 2010.

"I'm working on something new – I should hopefully have a little more news soon. I've been working hard for a lot of those five years on a new idea," she divulged.

Inherent Vice will be out 30th January in the UK (12th December, US).
