Update: A representative for the rapper has released the following statement: "There was a misunderstanding with security at the Byron Falls Festival show, which resulted in charges being laid by NSW Police. After fully cooperating with Police, Joey was granted bail and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge."

On Friday of last week (2nd January), it was reported that Joey Bada$$ punched a security guard at Falls Music and Arts Festival, near Byron Bay, Australia.

Allegedly, after the 20-year-old security guard "challenged" the Pro Era boss punched him, leaving the guard with a broken nose. Joey Bada$$ was about to perform, apparently, so what this security guard said or did beforehand would probably illuminate the situation. Maybe he was being a real dick – who knows.

He was arrested by Byron Bay police following his performance and was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He appeared at the local court on Saturday, but was released on bail to return for a trial, scheduled 19th March.

But what DID that security guard do to rile him up so much?

In other news, his album B4.DA.$$ will be released 20th January.

Also, did you hear the latest track from the album, 'No. 99'?
