Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ has been making a name for himself fairly quickly after the release of last year's highly-regarded 1999 mixtape. Since then, the largely self-produced 18-year-old rapper has been steadily shilling out new material, including his recent Summer Knights mixtape, which came out yesterday.

He's clearly a fan of the self-producing process, openly rejecting a previous offer to sign with Jay-Z's prestigious Roc Nation imprint. Noting his favorable methods, The Village Voice recently asked him what exactly it would take for him to move to a full-fledged major label from his current Cinematic Entertainment imprint.
