A wonderful project for Peel fans is on the way, that will see the legendary DJ’s massive record collection loaded into an online Arts Council project called The Space. The aim is to recreate his home studio in a digital environment, a collected works home to around 25,000 vinyl LPs and 40,000 vinyl singles! There will also be scanned album artwork, personal notes and contributions from family, friends and fans. The aim is for one hundred albums a week, with the project running from May to October, resulting in around 2,500 record available online.

The director of The John Peel Centre, the organisation behind the idea, Tom Barker, said "This is the first step in the journey of making one of the most important archives in modern music history available completely." At The 405, we wholeheartedly concur and wish to ask how we can go about helping in the uploading/flicking through Peel’s records.
