There's been a lot of back and forth regarding the production of the Tupac Shakur biopic and it seemed like everything was set up for filming to start this summer. However John Singleton, who worked with the late rapper on Poetic Justice, decided to step away from the reigns due to disagreements over who owned the rights to the late rapper's story.

Filming is expected to take place in August or September with director Carl Franklin now at the helm. Franklin directed Devil in a Blue Dress starring Denzel Washington as well as several House of Cards episodes.
